The Electrical Engineering Manager leads the Electrical Engineering Group on NASAs Sounding Rocket Operations Contract (NSROC). They ensure the electrical engineering group provides designs and analysis that meet or exceed the programmatic requirements levied. Position is located at Wallops Island, VA

Specific duties include:

  • Manage the electrical engineering staff to include mission and project assignments.
  • Direct, review and critique staff work for completeness, accuracy and adherence to program policies and standards.
  • Serve as a mentor for the electrical engineering staff.
  • Review and approve electrical engineering procedures and work instructions.
  • Prepare technical reports for management to document project status.
  • Coordinate with production on electrical engineering fabrication activities.
  • Manage the electrical engineering hardware within the stock system, including the introduction of new parts and purchase requests.
  • Coordinate with hardware vendors on procurements and technical issues.
  • Provide management with cost effective and innovative solutions to issues.
  • Manage the technical aspects of individual electrical engineering projects.
  • Present to program management and NASA on major development activities and issues.
  • Manage the electrical engineering financial budget.
  • Verify that appropriate QMS processes, procedures and work instructions are being used/followed within the group.
  • Review/authorize change requests and disposition non-conformances.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned or required.


Training or certification in the following will be required:

  • Electrostatic Discharge (ESD) Control
  • General Safety Awareness
  • NASA IT Security
  • Ordnance Awareness
  • Business Travel Standards


Travel: Minimal travel required, ~2 weeks / year.


Basic Qualifications: 

  • Education: Bachelors degree in Engineering or Science related field
  • Experience: 6 years experience in an engineering or science related field

Preferred Qualifications: 
  • Education:
    • Bachelors degree in Electrical of Computer Engineering Preferred
    • Masters degree in Engineering Management Preferred 
  • Experience:
    • 2+ years of supervisory experience preferred
    • Experience in Telemetry or Space Electronics, directly related to sounding rockets, missiles or targets.
    • Experience with Electrical CAD programs, such as Orcad preferred.
    • Computer programming experience in multiple languages preferred.
