- Knowledge of electrical engineering discipline and flight hardware / sounding rocket experience.
Knowledge of the principles of electrical design and design of telemetry and related instrumentation systems for flight vehicles and payloads and the ability to develop associated design documentation.
Knowledge of special purpose circuits to monitor vehicle or payload events, to establish compatible voltage or impedance levels, or to perform in-flight functions, as well as understanding of external and internal power sources, power switching and regulation, timing, and associated components.
Experience and operational proficiency with electronic equipment such as oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, logic analyzers, signal generators, power supplies, multi-meters, etc. as well as components such as microcontrollers, PLDs, DSPs.
Training or certification in the following may be required:
Researches, develops, designs, and tests electrical components, equipment, and systems; applying principles and techniques of electrical engineering.
Develops applications of controls, instruments, and systems for government and commercial sounding rocket programs; and of operational procedures and practices as they apply to sub-orbital rockets.
May be responsible for the technical, cost, and schedule requirements of projects, design, development, internal / external customer design reviews, and technical documentation.
Responsible for management of assigned electrical engineering assignments.
Serve as lead electrical engineer for Sounding Rocket missions.
Design moderately complex electronic and electrical systems; assists in developing component and TM system standards and testing/qualification techniques.
Applies comprehensive knowledge of electrical engineering concepts, procedures and practices.
Analyze, design, and develop solutions to sounding rocket telemetry and power control systems.
Apply programming and computer application skills such as C, C++, C#, OrCAD, Microsoft Office, Matlab are desired.
Contribute to the development of new engineering products or specialty products, and specifications.
Participate in technical design/modification negotiations with customers and experimenters.
A Bachelors Degree (BA/BS) or Masters Degree (MA/MS) in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Physics, or equivalent experience is required. 2 years related experience is required.
