Description

Description: Senior Software Engineer to support the Threat Modeling Center (TMC) product line of the DE Task Order on the Specialized Warfighter Development Contract (SWDC) program. The job location is at Schriever AFB, CO.

 

Complete Description: Position requires a senior software engineer experienced in software development to support the modeling and simulation of missile defense systems. Candidate will design, develop, test, document and integrate simulation products for the Threat Modeling Center (TMC) organization using C++ and/or Java programming languages on Windows operating systems.

 

 

 

As a senior engineer on the TMC team, you will help define the product vision, work collaboratively with team members, government customers, and product users. Thus allowing the program to realize that vision, shape the development environment and process, lead design and implementation activities, influence and sculpt the software architecture, support the product through Wargames and Exercises, events, and training, and mentor other team members.

 

Primary responsibilities include designing and developing software to support various missile modeling tools and capabilities. Candidate may be responsible for leading development of an agile software feature team within the context of a larger team.  Candidate will be responsible for assisting in the development of simulation and software architectures. Additional responsibilities could include interfacing with TMC customers and presenting technical briefings TMC stakeholders.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor's Degree with 14 years of experience; Master's with 12 years; PhD with 9 years
  • Candidate must have experience in a leadership capacity on a software engineering team.
  • Must be able to program in C++, C#, and/or Java, have a strong understanding of object oriented software development, and have a basic understanding of Windows.
  • Must have experience in software development for modeling & simulation. environment and possess strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Currently have, or able to obtain, a DoD Secret Clearance.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in developing software in C++ and/or Java. 
  • Experience in engineering M&S systems using an optimistic and/or conservative discrete event simulation platform. 
  •  Experience in agile software development methodologies including Scrum and Kanban.  
  • Knowledge/experience in several of the following: missile defense domain knowledge, command and control, and modeling and simulation development. 
  • The candidate must have experience in all phases of software development, including analysis, design, code, test and integration.
  • Design skills should include the use of UML, and tools such as Enterprise Architect or Rational Rose. 
  • Candidate must be able to work both independently and in a team
