Description

Currently, Northrop Grummans Rocket Center location is in need of a Laboratory Technician for the Research Propellant Laboratory Group. This position is for second shift. Please see responsibilities and requirements listed below:

Please note, this position is for second shift. The person hired will start on first shift for a period of 2-5 months for training, then move to second shift once trained.

Responsibilities:

-Support production in a 24/7 manufacturing environment
-Support and participate in various laboratory tasks as required
-Assist in energetic development operations for warheads, munitions, and rocket motors
-Assist in maintaining equipment and contribute to a clean and safe operating area
-Perform minor repairs of equipment
-Coordinate maintenance work and repairs, setting up permits and working with safety and maintenance supervisors
-Handle explosive materials and liquid explosives on a daily basis (will be required)
-Running analytical equipment, testing samples
-Document work in notebook or manufacturing record


Qualifications

Requirements:

-Two year college degree or equivalent experience
-Must be able to work with minimum supervision, perform shift work and use standard measuring equipment
-Able and willing to handle explosive materials and explosive liquids on a daily basis
-Ability to receive and follow specific instructions from procedures, engineers, and supervision
-Experience using scientific instrumentation and equipment
-Experience with chemicals and chemical processes (especially energetic) is beneficial
-Able to obtain a Secret Clearance which requires US Citizenship as a pre-requisite
-Ability to work independently with little supervision
