Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems has an opening for a Principal Logistics Engineer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located in Palmdale, CA.

Candidate will be responsible for Logistics Maintainability Analysis efforts and activities necessary to meet program requirements. Major responsibilities will include developing and maintaining Maintenance Task Analysis documents, generating source data for Technical Publications, Support Equipment, and Training. Additionally, Reviews field support requirements and recommends tools and test equipment. Establishes calibration requirements for field systems/equipment including all maintenance tasks. Performs maintenance and maintainability demonstrations for customers. Reviews handbooks for technical adequacy. Assists in the development of maintenance engineering and logistics support. Plans and contributes to proposal efforts. The working environment is highly dynamic, often with competing priorities and deadlines.

Candidate will analyze and interpret technical data (e.g., drawings, manuals, specifications, etc.) to develop technical and logistics data and create/update relevant reports such as task analysis, maintenance plans, or provisioning requirements reports.

Candidate will:

         Perform/update Maintenance Task Analysis (MTA)
         Perform/update Level of Repair Analysis (LORA)
         Assign static part and application attributes including:
o   Source, Maintainability, and Recoverability (SMR) codes
o   Reliability and Maintainability (R&M) values
o   Logistics footprint characteristics
         Support logistics engineering activities and assist as a technical resource from a programs    concept and proposal phases through development, test, production, and post-production support phases.
         Integrate themselves into the engineering process to influence design from inception throughout the product life cycle, focusing on supportability, maintainability, and other product support elements.
         Develop maintenance concepts to ensure the most affordable and effective mission readiness solution.
         Responsible for activities that sustain the operation and maintenance of systems to ensure mission readiness.
         Be an engaged and versatile team member of the LSA and Maintainability team seeking to adhere to and improve upon existing practices.

The candidate must have strong analytical skills and knowledge of a wide array of industry tools used to conduct Logistics analysis and will provide status to the Integrated Product Team (IPT) on a regular basis.


Basic Qualifications: 

  • 5 Years of experience with Bachelors in Science; 3 Years with Master's
  • PC proficiency with Microsoft Windows Office Products, Microsoft Word, Access, Excel, and PowerPoint is required.
  • Excellent communication (verbal and written), presentation skills and ability to interface directly with internal program office and external customer is required.
  • Active in-scope (not over 5-years) DoD Secret clearance
  • The ability to obtain and maintain special program access

Preferred Qualifications:
  •     Masters Degree in a STEM field from an accredited university
  • Experience in military maintenance and sustainment highly desired
  • 5+ years of experience in Maintainability or other logistics related discipline
  • Understanding of repair level analysis and life cycle cost modeling is also a desired competency
  • Familiarity with other logistics tools such as Vmetric, EDCAS, COMPASS, CASA, etc.
  • Active, in-scope DoD Top Secret or SCI clearance
