Northrop Grumman Mission Systems (NGMS) is looking for you to join our team as a Principal Manufacturing Engineer or  Senior Principal Manufacturing Engineer based out of McClellan, CA in the Sacramento area of Northern California.

 

What Youll get to Do:

This position focuses on production support for various programs.

  • Design and document sequence of operations and specifies procedures for the assembly or fabrication of parts, tools and equipment and other functions that affect product performance.
  • Perform detailed design tasks using software such as Creo or SolidWorks equivalent to develop and document designs for manufacturing tools, fixtures, etc.
  • Expected to be self-motivated and provide technical solutions to a wide range of difficult problems under minimal supervision.
  • Ensure processes and procedures are in compliance with regulations.
  • Facilitate Root Cause & Corrective Action tasks and driving to closure.
  • Recommend and implement quality improvements.
  • Conduct pre-production Manufacturing Readiness Reviews.
  • Provide technical support to Quality to help disposition non-conformance and rework process planning.
  • Demonstrate safety orientation and compliance mindset.

 

The chosen candidate must have excellent verbal and written communication skills; be able to multi-task in a dynamic, and high visibility environment; and work well as part of a diverse team of various disciplines such as Hardware Design Engineering, Quality, Test, Production Control, Planning, Global Supply Chain, and Program/Project Management

 

This requisition may be filled at a higher grade based on qualifications listed below.

Qualifications

This job requisition may be filled as a level 3 or 4 based on the qualifications below: 

Basic Qualifications for a Principal Manufacturing Engineer 3 :

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field and 5 years of relevant professional experience (or 3 years with a Master's degree). Note: Candidates without a Bachelor's degree may be considered with an additional 4+ years of related work experience.
  • Experience supporting an environment relating to the  assembly of electro-mechanical products.
  • Familiarity with CREO, Solidworks, CAD or similar software and fluency in MS Office software applications.
  • Excellent technical writing skills.
  • Must be a US Citizen with the ability to obtain a DOD Secret or Top Secret Clearance

 

Basic Qualifications for a Senior Principal Manufacturing Engineer 4 :

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field and 9 years of relevant professional experience (or 7 years with a Master's degree). Note: Candidates without a Bachelor's degree may be considered with an additional 4+ years of related work experience.
  • Experience supporting an environment relating to the  assembly of electro-mechanical products.
  • Familiarity with CREO, Solidworks, CAD or similar software and fluency in MS Office software applications.
  • Excellent technical writing skills.
  • Must be a US Citizen with the ability to obtain a DOD Secret or Top Secret Clearance

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Industrial/Manufacturing/Engineering Technology or similar.
  • Active DOD Secret or Top Secret Clearance
  • Experience with tolerance stack-up analysis.
  • Experience in 3D Modeling and 3D printing.
  • Knowledge of electronics/electromechanical technology and materials.
  • Familiarity with MIL-STD and IPC Type 3 requirements.
  • Experience with semiconductor device soldering processes.
  • Experience marking systems.
  • Experience with SAP or other manufacturing shop floor systems.
  • Experience working in machine fabrication environment
