Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Sector is seeking a Manufacturing Engineering Manager Level 2.   The position will report to the Site Manufacturing Engineering Manager. The selected candidate will be responsible for leading a team of Manufacturing Engineers that support production operations in El Segundo, CA.    

Management responsibilities will include the translation of Product Definition and Product Delivery data into tooling and planning requirements.  Provides core Manufacturing Engineering disciplines to existing and future Programs and Integrated Product Teams (IPTs).  Maintain the overall direction of Manufacturing Engineering processes and will provide management oversight, employee administration, and technical direction of all Manufacturing Engineering personnel.

This position will lead the team in liaison support of manufacturing production operations.  These activities include providing inputs to the Advanced Fabrication Request (AFR) process, supporting affordability and producibility initiatives, answering assist calls from technicians, processing of MRB tags, performing root cause corrective actions, working with functional organizations to establish consistent processes and procedures, helping with the prioritization of work from multiple programs, and being responsive in support of production schedules.  Position will require identification of training needs, Manufacturing Engineering Statement of Work (MESOW) development and input for proposal activity, as well as management of all related budgets.


Basic Qualifications: 

  • Bachelors Degree

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in manufacturing engineering or related engineering field

  • 3 years of leadership experience required

  • Strong organizational, interpersonal and presentation skills to communicate effectively at all levels of management and to individual contributors

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite: Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook

  • Ability to obtain and maintain an active DOD Secret Security Clearance

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Bachelors or Masters Degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline

  • Prior experience operating in a dynamic environment of increasing production schedules and high delivery rates

  • Knowledge of composites fabrication and tooling processes

  • Knowledge of machining processes

  • Knowledge and experience with CAD data (CATIA V5, Unigraphics, NX)

  • Experience working with Manufacturing Execution System (MES)

  • Experience working with Systems Applications and Products (SAP)

  • An Active, DOD Secret Security Clearance that has been granted or renewed within the last 5 years
