Northrop Grumman is seeking candidates with outstanding leadership skills who would be responsible for providing subject matter expertise within the Control Systems Engineering (CSE) group. This candidate will be able to address five satellite ground software systems engineering elements: (1) Designing and developing software architectures for space applications; (2) Defining key capabilities and performance requirements; (3) Providing DevSecOps subject matter expertise; (4) Developing thorough definition of software system interfaces; and, (5) Guiding software system implementation approaches IAW established operational concepts and industry best practices. This candidate will also be responsible for close customer cooperation to ensure that requirements meet customer expectations.

This position is responsible for ensuring the logical and systematic conversion of customer or product requirements into total systems solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule, and cost constraints. This position performs functional analysis, timeline analysis, detail trade studies, requirements allocation and interface definition studies to translate customer requirements into software specifications. This position requires a multi-disciplined knowledge in areas related to engineering including systems design, Agile software design and development, software continuous integration and automated testing. Applicant will interface with multiple disciplines including customers, internal executive management, program management, software and system engineering.

The successful candidate will clearly demonstrate strong leadership skills and will have a track record as an effective communicator and problem solver who is able to develop and maintain good working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

Roles & Responsibilities may include: 

 
Responsible for the technical performance of Raptor in establishing and executing against a commercial product roadmap along with contractual commitments.
Support the programs transition to Agile DevSecOps and subsequently Scaled Agile Software Development Lifecycle processes
Work closely with and collaborate with the Business Development Managers, Program/Project/Mission Managers, and other technical personnel on quotes, proposals, and responses to customer technical inquiries. Include technical analysis of RFPs and SOWs as well as identifying risks and appropriate risk mitigation strategies.
Will be required to effectively communicate technical progress to customers, senior leadership, and companywide audiences.
Attend meetings, seminars, symposiums and shows as a technical representative of the Raptor Department.
In collaboration with domain specific leadership teams and management, assesses strategic business opportunities, participates in strategic planning, and leads/participates in internal research and development planning and execution.
Assist in developing strategic product plans and roadmaps, identifying required new capabilities, and providing feedback on products, industry trends and customer needs.
Work closely with Department leadership and support compliance functions to ensure full compliance with Division, Corporate, and government policies.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications: 


Minimum Education / Experience: 15+ Years with Bachelors in Engineering or closely related discipline or ; 13+ Years with Masters in Engineering or closely related discipline ; 11+ Years with PhD in Engineering or close related discipline.
Strong Experience leading Agile programs including Agile DevOps.
Possess leadership skills to develop, organize and execute engineering activities, including building teams, and assessing technical execution.
The candidate must have the ability to work effectively in a team environment, and possess strong communication and presentation skills.
High proficiency in technical problem solving, to include decomposition, root cause analysis, solution development, implementation and monitoring.
Significant experience with design, build, deployment and aftermarket service of standard commercial software products.
Strong experience in producing software architecture documentation
US Citizenship and willingness to obtain TS/SCI clearance, is required.

Preferred Qualifications: 

Active TS/SCI clearance
Experience guiding a large organization through adoption of Agile processes including Scrum
Experience with Agile Earned Value Management System planning and reporting
Experience in design, development, implementation, or operation of Spacecraft Ground Software systems.
SW development background including experience with C, Java, HTML5, or Python
Experience managing complex projects using the Atlassian suite of SDLC tools (JIRA, Confluence, etc)
Possesses an industry certification in Agile or Scaled Agile Framework.
