has a current opening for an Sr. Principal Mechanical Equipment Design Engineer

Responsibilities for this position include:
Designing, building, supporting and continuing the development of automated manufacturing machines and systems Learning the details of currently implemented control system hardware and software for automated machines Supporting production in using the machines and integrating upgrades as needed Assisting maintenance personnel as needed when troubleshooting the equipment Participating in R&D efforts to improve system capabilities and bring new ideas into projects Overseeing and directing day-to-day efforts of tradesmen during machine build activities Preparing, through mentoring, for eventual leadership opportunities Strictly follows and adheres to departmental procedures and protocols Works with vendors to ensure successful fabrication of machines and systems Maintains documentation related to machine and systems design, fabrication and proofing Provides estimates for new equipment and systems Some travel to fabrication vendors and other Northrop Grumman facilities required
- BS/MS in Electrical Engineering, plus a minimum of 9 years of experience with BS, or 7 years with a MS
- Experience in control system hardware development and support
- Experience with closed-loop servo and process control systems
- Understanding and working knowledge of the National Electric Code
- Preference given to candidate with experience in an aerospace manufacturing environment

- Electro Mechanical background
- Troubleshooting and maintaining complex control system equipment
- Proficient using AutoCAD
- Experience with Allen Bradley PLC and Ethernet systems
- Experience with Beckhoff PLC and EtherCAT equipment
- Experienced in designing and building Industrial Control Panels
- Experience with Industrial Safety Systems (ANSI B11 and/or ISO13849)
- Experience with the UL-508 Standard
